Gamla is most noted for its part in the Jewish revolt against the Romans in 66 - 70 A.D. Gamla is also known for its synagogue, which is dated to the Hasmonean period. Although we have no record of Jesus visiting Gamla, the synagogues in which he taught would most likely be very similar to the Gamla Synagogue.
